Scumback Speaker CommentsHere are some of the comments I've gotten back from Scumback Speaker owners.
Hi Jim, Rob S.
Hi Jim, Bill B.
OK, OK I give. Order me one of them SA12-H75 HP's, It's making my V30 sound broken. Steve H.
Goddamn son, killer speaker right outta the box!! It's like the Cele Blue just grew a set of Hippo nuts!! Great mix, i may have to sell something else and try another one with a JBL D 120!! I'll spread the word, Thanks a bunch, Happy Holidays! Gary (H55-8 owner)
Gig went well! I am very happy. My tone is much more authentically vintage now. My neck pickup tone is much like Slash and my bridge pickup tone is in the neighborhood of old Billy Gibbons. I'm running a Marshall (dual EL-34’s), the differences I noticed were more pronounced high end with a wider emphasis and the low end rolled off more quickly and at a higher frequency. more speaker distortion... and when the amp heated up I heard that old familiar low end pump on short power chords. Overall conclusion: Love the speakers Jim! Anybody who wants an old celestion sound would be well advised to go with the Scumback speakers. Kevin M. (M55 / M75 mix in a 4x12 Marshall cab)

Jim, Cheers,
Thanks Jim, Thanks, Bill (H55-8HP owner)
I'm sending a belated "Thank You". The speakers sound terrific - just wish I had more time to play so I could get some hours in them and properly break them in. I'm already recommending Scumbacks to anyone I meet who plays guitar. Thanks, Peter Johnson
Hey Jim, Steve (H55/M75 owner)
Plexikiller: had rehearsal all last night. Man I am truly blown away by these speakers. Favorite cab I ever played; can't imagine it sounding any better. the frequency response is so full with the 55 and 75 x-pattern.. People that have been following this thread, and the previous one, know that this is not an ass-kissing review. The speakers really are that good (IMHO). I am very satisfied with what I got here. Its the sound I've been looking for but never found just yet. I unleashed the full potential of my amp finally. (H75/H55 mix in a 4x12 cab)
Hi, John (repeat Scumback buyer)
Jim, Mike R. (H75-HP owner)
Hi Jim, Cedric (H75 owner in France, repeat buyer)
Hi gkelm.... I'm a new member here, but have 35 years guitar playing experience. I just bought a pair of LHDC's and they sound killer. Nothing like the sound clips. I put two in a avatar 2x12 cab to use with my modded 1987x Marshal Plexi. They are very responsive, clear and smooth. I'm very happy with them. Glen
I recently got a sa12m75 recone of a blown PR greenback and I am totally stoked! Thanks to Jim and Ted we can rest easy knowing the tools to tone are readily available.
Want to review a blind speaker tone test with all the major speaker makers involved? Fair enough! Here’s a link to a discussion thread done on www.thegearpage.net gear discussion forum in July 2005. I did a totally unbiased recording session with all of the major speaker manufacturers’ speakers making “Greenback” clones, Pre Rola Celestions, and posted 31 different soundfiles using four different guitars, two different amps, and many different speakers. I had AndyZ of the “Institute of Noise” Studio record the clips and place the microphone for recording. Amps used were a 1968 Marshall Plexi 50 watt, and the 65 Amps “London”. Guitars used were a Strat, Les Paul Std., Les Paul Jr. and a Telecaster. The soundfiles were all numbered, but with no descriptions given of what was what, and I asked readers to pick their top 3 tones, and why they picked them. The results come in on page six of this thread. It’s a lot of reading, but the soundfiles, comments and reviews are all there to read. After the results were in the Scumback speakers took 1st (H75) place, 2nd (M75 tied with Celestion Heritage 20 watt), and outright 3rd & 4th place in the voting. The Scumbacks edged out the Pre Rola’s and all other offerings. The link to the discussion is here:
